For reference, Coach K’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, which was heavily advertised and broadcast on ESPN, brought in 3.98 million viewers back in March.
While this South Carolina-UConn final brought in record numbers for ESPN, other broadcast networks have garnered much larger viewership figures. North Carolina’s men’s Final Four victory over Duke averaged 16.3 million viewers and the Kansas-UNC National Championship game brought in an average of 18.1 million, Turner Sports announced earlier this week.
With millions watching, South Carolina took down the Huskies with a 64-49 final score.
